The study of land activities, sources of pollution in water and sediment levels is the product of collaboration between, on the one hand, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) through the Nairobi, the WIO-LaB Project and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment, scientific institutions and national experts, on the other hand, with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility.

The study reveals that the natural conditions, the strong demographic progression in a reduced space and a context of limited resources; the difficult economic and social conditions of the population constitute the main source of the increasingly strong pressure exerted on the environment and natural resources.
