The Comoros have, as part of their conservation strategy, implemented a policy of creating a network of protected areas. It is within this framework that the Marine Park of Moheli was created and Lake Boudouni was added to the Ramsar site. It is planned to create other protected areas such as Karthala Park and Mount Ntringui Park. These have just been listed as Ramsar sites. These sites, through their biological characterization, are among the 6 priority areas for sustainable development identified for the creation of protected areas.
